My father, Nicholas Mallus, was a great man and a great contractor. He worked as a commercial contractor for over 50 years, always doing business the honest way—sometimes on a handshake. He always tried to help out the little guy in business and always treated his employees with respect. To this day he is remembered fondly by both his employees and many people in the construction field—not to mention by his family.
Not only was Nicholas Mallus a wonderful business man, he was a terrific father. A native Washingtonian and veteran, he taught me many things: how to work hard, how to treat people and how to do quality work. I founded SONIC as a debt of gratitude to my father—to pay forward the lessons he taught me and to carry on his good name.
